Mindfulness Teacher Supervision On-going mindfulness supervision is an important part of the good practice requirements for teachers of mindfulness-based courses. All of our supervisors meet the good practice guidelines for supervisors developed by BAMBA (British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches). We offer mindfulness-based supervision specifically for Breathworks accredited teachers and those who are in our training programme. FREQUENCY OF SUPERVISION Generally, teachers need to have regular supervision when they're leading 8-week courses, or doing other, regular mindfulness sessions. Three supervision sessions during an 8 week course (near the beginning, middle and end) is usually about right for someone who is a relatively new teacher. Two sessions per 8 week course may be enough once you get more experienced - that's something that can be discussed and agreed between the teacher and their supervisor. So, that's about once a month when you just have plenty of work ongoing, whether it's 8-week courses or one-off events. CHANGING SUPERVISORS Lots of teachers like to stay with the same supervisor for some time, as you build up a sense of trust and insight through your work together. Equally, lots of teachers find it helpful to change supervisors from time to time, as it allows a fresh approach, and may bring news insights as a result. The decision about this is really down to individual teachers.
